Bell Mountain
This home sits on a protected greenbelt, and the family wanted to take better advantage of the large windows, outdoor terrace, and stunning views with a more open and functional floor plan. Our Austin interior design team initially came on for an extensive main floor renovation to capitalize on the sweeping views. However, the project progressed from floor plans and finishes into furnishings and rugs.
We aimed to create a sophisticated, textural palette with dramatic moments and bold colors in select areas. We applied a light, airy palette in the open kitchen and living areas with handmade tiles, quartzite backsplash, and subtly stained wood tones. The butler’s pantry took a darker finish with a metallic tile backsplash, antiqued bronze mesh cabinet details, and rich black cabinets. The living room furnishings combined new and existing seating, layered rugs, and subtle colors and patterns via the custom cushions.
We rearranged the primary bath to accommodate a grand double vanity, a large walk-in shower, and a soaker tub situated by corner windows that allow a beautiful view. The light marble and porcelain finishes stayed true to the client’s desired subtle palette, bringing visual interest with mixed metals in the plumbing, lighting, custom mirrors, and colorful vintage rug.
We had a bit of fun in the home’s statement rooms. The powder bath brought a touch of whimsy with metallic koi fish wallpaper and bronze and brass-toned plumbing, hardware, and mirror. The library went bold with a dramatic backdrop of floor-to-ceiling green paint on custom millwork. A new velvet sleeper sofa, rehabbed vintage chair, antique writing desk, and recovered brass chair completed the rich, layered look of the space.
