Cape Cod
The opportunity to work on this incredible project arose in late 2022 when our Austin-based client purchased a vacation home on the Cape. We were immediately on a fast track to design, decorate, and furnish the main house by July 4, 2023. The scope included custom furniture, art, antiques sourced locally and from Europe, vintage finds, and decorative wallpaper. A local custom builder helped tackle painting throughout, changing key bathroom vanities, and all decorative lighting. Outdoor furniture was sourced for the expansive patio areas, and we found a landscape team to plant flowers and vines in vintage pots. The project team visited the site once before starting the design work, so when we gained access in early June, it was “all hands on deck” to complete the project within three weeks. Our efforts were a huge success!
Phase two began in the summer of 2023 and included a full renovation of the unfinished basement and garage apartment. We designed the basement to include a theater, wine room, home gym, game room with a pool table and pinball machines, a kitchenette, a bunk room, and two full bathrooms. In the garage apartment, we created a bedroom, a full kitchen, and a full bathroom, as well as two exterior seating areas with a custom swing. The second phase required approximately monthly site visits from the AWCo team to help our East Coast contractor stay on task. A few additional changes to the main house included a kitchen facelift, new cabinet hardware throughout, custom millwork, and a new mirrored bar.
Both installations in June 2023 and June 2024, required nearly continuous work over three weeks by a large team of AWCo designers, builders, wallpaper installers, window treatment specialists, and decorative painters.
Our client’s sense of humor is clearly on display, yet the home is also comfortable, welcoming, and celebrates summer living!
