This family home came to us with one clear intention: to bring everyone back together. The existing layout kept family members scattered, with the living room disconnected from the heart of the home. Our work began by rethinking how the space could bring everyone in.
We started by building a whole-room custom built-in sofa that saved the day! It bridges the living area toward the kitchen and dining spaces, pulling the whole family into one connected flow. The new layout brought fresh intention to the fireplace, a well-loved feature the family returns to again and again. Everything was arranged to honor it as the natural anchor of the room.
The furniture sits low and deliberate, rooted in a ’70s sensibility that runs through the whole project. The custom sofa was designed to be deep, low, and enveloping. It invites you to sink in and not think about leaving, casual enough for a lazy Sunday with the family and generous enough to host a room full of friends. Its position opens the space outward, letting you feel connected to the rest of the house while the view of the trees pulls you gently toward the outside.
Upstairs, the loft was reimagined as a focused home office and study space. A generous work table anchors the room and is bathed in natural light from the skylights above. A handcrafted Italian rattan pendant by Servomuto hangs above it with quiet confidence. Custom storage keeps everything out of sight so the mind can settle into what matters, while textured drapery frames the treetop views and softens the light, and grasscloth wallpaper adds warmth to the walls.
Throughout, the guiding thread was balance, natural materials, and a grounding palette that feels playful and alive. Each layer is intentional and rooted in the family's spirit. This project is an invitation to exhale.
