South Austin
This South Austin home was a dream to work on. Our client was confident in her personal style and a wonderful collaborator with the design team. For her, the more pattern and color, the better. We were able to lean into a bold, layered, eclectic scheme that runs throughout the house.
The new build was a clean slate, so most walls and ceilings were wallpapered. Custom cabinetry and paneling were painted vivid pinks, purples, chartreuse and black. An archway at the entry was continued at each room transition down a long center hallway with grand effect! A wide leopard runner unifies and grounds the space. Walls are filled with our client’s extensive art collection and her “witchy” accessories bring the rooms to life.
Our client dreamed of a vintage Tudor home, so we added striped awnings over the front windows and a black turret-style awning over the front door. The side porch was screened in and a custom mural was painted on the pink stained concrete floor. Those motifs were also painted on the walkway up to the home, signaling the unique interior beyond the door!
The effect we created together is wonderfully comfortable and outlandish, inviting exploration around every corner and making one feel as if they have entered into a Grimm fairy tale.
